Bay Adelaide Centre East

General Info

About the Project

Project Description

BAC East is the second of a 3-phase development to create the Bay Adelaide Centre complex, a new mixed-use complex in Toronto’s Financial District. The 1.22 million SF tower includes a 6-storey podium and the relocation and incorporation of two heritage façades of buildings that formerly occupied the site. Granite floors and marble outer core walls, public works of art and 30 foot ceilings establish the lobby as a serene counterpoint to the hectic street life outside.

Electrical engineering services were provided including the design of the incoming electrical service, all normal and emergency power distribution, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, digital metering and electrical infrastructure required for all building systems and devices.

ICT engineering services were provided including the design of the incoming communications service, Carrier POP rooms, horizontal and vertical fibre backbones and floor level horizontal copper end device cabling. A converged base building network was designed to host all building systems. The Bay Adelaide Centre East Tower network is connected to the existing Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower to provide a consolidated common network across both Towers.

Specialty lighting design services were provided to cover façade lighting, tower roof top lighting and main lobby and retail concourse areas.

Security engineering services were provided including the design of the access control and alarm monitoring, video surveillance and digital recording, intercommunications, panic and duress alert systems. The security systems reside on the building converged network and are an extension of the existing West Tower systems.
