Project Description
Located in the heart of Toronto’s entertainment district, Little Canada is an award winning tourist attraction that takes visitors on a tour across Canada visiting some of the best our beautiful country has to offer, just in HO (1:87) scale.
The highly detailed, animated miniature attraction captures our country’s iconic cities and landmarks from coast to coast, including: Little Toronto, Little Niagara, Little Golden Horseshoe, Little Ottawa and Petit Quebec, with future destinations currently in development.
Performing in concert with the audio and projection systems, the design team was tasked to orchestrate a unique immersive day-to-night sensory experience that takes the visitor on a full day's journey in the matter of 15 minutes. The visitors are able to experience each destination’s magical nuances bringing new details and visuals to life, offering a new and different experience each time.
Drawing upon their theatrical lighting background the designers used a distributed control system to provide the level of control and sequencing needed to achieve the necessary results. A unique form of LED colour mixing provides a full spectrum of white and colour from the same track mounted luminaire, avoiding the need for multiple sources which also assisted with keeping the budget in check.
Traditional LED sources provided general lighting and helped highlight architectural features elevating the guest experience from the moment they enter the main lobby (known as customs).
A truly unique experience, Little Canada may be small in scale, but it makes up for that in presence and impact.
