Project Description
The project successfully revitalized the ground floor of 33 Bloor Street East, including a complete redesign of the street-level facade and entrance. The refreshed design offers an inviting and contemporary entrance that aligns with the building’s architectural legacy, making it a vibrant and welcoming landmark in Toronto's dynamic Bloor Street corridor. Mulvey and Banani provided Electrical and Security Engineering, and Lighting Design.
The renovated lobby at 33 Bloor reimagines arrival through a bold, creative lighting strategy that elevates the everyday experience. Sculptural illumination layers accent, ambient, and feature lighting to reveal texture, enhance materiality, and introduce a strong sense of depth and movement. A luminous Barrisol ceiling becomes the defining architectural element, delivering soft, evenly distributed light that creates a welcoming glow while visually expanding the space. Integrated lighting is carefully coordinated with architectural lines and finishes, reinforcing clarity and elegance without visual clutter. The result is a vibrant, contemporary gateway that respectfully honors the building’s architectural legacy while establishing 33 Bloor as a refreshed landmark along Toronto’s iconic Bloor Street corridor.
