10 Bay – McMaster Graduate Residence

General Info

About the Project

Project Description

Located at the intersection of Bay Street and King Street, 10 Bay redefines student living in downtown Hamilton, offering a dynamic and supportive environment for over 644 graduate students and their families. Designed to foster academic success and well-being, the 30-story residence integrates thoughtfully designed living spaces with vibrant communal areas that encourage both study and social engagement.

Our Electrical Engineering and Lighting Design services played a key role in enhancing the functionality and atmosphere of the building. The lighting strategy balances efficiency and aesthetics, ensuring well-lit, welcoming interiors that promote comfort and productivity. With LEED Silver certification targeted, sustainability was a core consideration, with energy-efficient lighting and smart electrical systems contributing to a reduced environmental footprint.

In addition to the 323,000 SF of student residences (560 beds), the project includes a 150,000 SF parking complex with 335 spaces, primarily above grade, along with dedicated amenities and support spaces. By combining modern design with purposeful engineering, 10 Bay stands as a cornerstone of McMaster University's commitment to quality student housing and a thriving downtown campus.
