Nick thrives on complex problem-solving, often sharing with enthusiasm: “Engineering is my passion, my life!” His approach combines technical precision with creative problem-solving, allowing him to tackle challenging projects while delivering practical, energy-efficient solutions.

Nick’s expertise is particularly focused on commercial and institutional projects, where he applies his deep knowledge of sustainable lighting and advanced lighting control systems. He understands the pivotal role these systems play not only in creating functional and visually appealing spaces but also in achieving significant energy savings and long-term cost efficiency. Over the course of his career, Nick has successfully managed projects on both the base building and interior design fronts, ensuring seamless integration between architectural intent and engineering solutions.

Nick joined Mulvey & Banani in 1988; he then returned after a period of success as a freelance consultant, during which he expanded his experience across a range of high-profile projects. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto, holding a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, and has continually pursued opportunities to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies in his field.

Nick led the Mulvey & Banani team on the new headquarters for Irving Oil in St. John’s, New Brunswick, engineering the systems for both the base building and interior fit-up. Other key projects in Nick’s portfolio include the Macdonald Block Reconstruction Project, Toronto, and Vaughan Civic Centre.
